5 Underrated Carrboro, NC Gems Only the Locals Know About

One of my favorite parts of being a Realtor in Chapel Hill and Carrboro is introducing people not just to homes, but to the community they'll call home. When clients relocate to the Triangle, they always ask me, "Where do the locals actually go?"

Of course, Carrboro has its well-known favorites, but these are five places I recommend over and over again because they're locally loved, independently owned, and make Carrboro such a special place to live.

1. Neal's Deli – The Best Seasonal Sandwiches in Carrboro

If you're looking for one of the best lunches in Carrboro, Neal's Deli should be at the top of your list. Their menu changes with the seasons, so there's always something new to try, and everything is made with fresh, high-quality ingredients.

Whether you're grabbing lunch after walking downtown or picking up sandwiches for a picnic, this is one of those places you'll keep coming back to.

Local Tip: Arrive before the lunch rush if you can—it's popular for a reason.

2. Tesoro – Fresh Handmade Pasta Worth the Trip

Tesoro is one of my favorite dinner recommendations. Their handmade pasta is some of the freshest you'll find anywhere in the Triangle.

The menu isn't huge, but that's exactly what makes it special. Every dish is thoughtfully prepared, and you can taste the quality in every bite. If you're celebrating a special occasion—or simply love authentic Italian food—Tesoro is a must-visit.

3. Anna's Tailoring & Alterations – The Local Secret for Perfect Fits

Everyone needs a great tailor, and Anna's is mine.

Whether it's hemming pants, tailoring a dress, repairing a favorite jacket, or making something fit just right, Anna somehow works magic. She's known for quality work, reasonable prices, and surprisingly quick turnaround times.

It's one of those businesses that you'll wonder how you ever lived without.

4. My Muses Card Shop & Muse Art Gallery – The Best Place for Unique Gifts

Whenever I need a birthday card, hostess gift, or something unique that isn't mass-produced, I head to My Muses.

This charming little shop features local artists, creative gifts, beautiful greeting cards, jewelry, pottery, artwork, and one-of-a-kind treasures you won't find in big-box stores.

If you're looking to support local artists while finding something truly special, this is the place.

5. TEJASE Healing Arts– Organic Facials That Leave You Glowing

Everyone deserves a little self-care, and Danielle Koppel at TEJASE Healing Arts is one of Carrboro's hidden gems. 646-279-5208 is the best number for her.

She specializes in organic skincare, customized facials, and microdermabrasion treatments that leave your skin feeling refreshed without harsh chemicals. Danielle creates an incredibly relaxing experience and truly tailors every treatment to your skin's needs.

It's one of my favorite places to recharge.

Why I Love Living and Working in Carrboro

Carrboro is full of locally owned businesses, incredible food, talented artists, and people who genuinely care about supporting one another. These small businesses are part of what makes this community so welcoming, and they're a big reason so many of my clients fall in love with living here.

If you're thinking about moving to Carrboro, Chapel Hill, or anywhere in the Triangle, I'd love to share even more of my favorite local spots.

Because finding the right home is important—but finding the right community is what truly makes a place feel like home.
